"Kırmızı Kanatlar" team, consisting of Istanbul Kültür University IEEE Club students, ranked 5th among 83 teams in the "Combating İHA" category according to the results of the ÖTR (Preliminary Design Report) of the TEKNOFEST competition.
Team members, who were far away from each other under pandemic conditions, came together under the roof of IKU-IEEE and participated in the competition. Our team, which went through difficult processes on this road they started in November 2020, prepared and delivered the ÖTR, which we can call the first stage of the competition. According to the results announced at the end of about 1 month, Kırmızı Kanatlar team came 5th place.
Kırmızı Kanatlar team, whose advisor is Assist. Prof. Ertuğrul Saatçi, one of the academicians of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and whose leader is Ezgi Topcu, a student of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, achieved this success with their working discipline and motivation. Topcu, who fulfills the duties and responsibilities expected of a team leader, is also working on image processing with Alperen Gökduman, one of our Department of Mathematics-Computer students. In the hardware and design part of the team, there are Okan Kartbaş and Göksu Yıldırım, our students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Emin Kaan Güreşçi on communication issues. The software and programming part is entrusted to one of our Electrical and Electronics Engineering students and Teknofest captain Bahri Berkant İçöz. The team comes together with the online meetings they organize every week and proceeds step by step in accordance with the timetable they have determined.
Our team has started working on the KTR (Critical Design Report), which is the next phase of the ÖTR. Our team, who worked on the design of the İHA for the KTR, which will be delivered on June 23, 2021, also started to produce various parts with a 3D printer. The software branch of the team aims to use the hardware they will use more efficiently by making adjustments on the image processing algorithms.
Kırmızı Kanatlar team will come together at the R&D workshop to be established at our university after KTR and continue their work. Thus, this journey, which starts from miles away, will be crowned with the coming together of the team members.
