Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Kültür Point aims to offer a warm welcome to our students who have just joined the IKU family in the 2021-2022 Academic Year, to introduce our university and our staff, who will be their new home throughout their higher education life, and to make their first day at the university inspiring and guiding. ; An Orientation Program was held at our Ataköy campus between 20-23 September 2021.
The program, which was held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center by providing social-physical distance and taking health precautions due to the COVID-19 epidemic, was held in 3 sessions a day, with the participation of our different faculties and vocational school programs in each session.
The Orientation Program started on Monday, September 20, 2021, with the opening speech of our Rector and addressing the students. Our Rector gave the message that students will feel the privilege of studying and graduating from such a university for the rest of their lives, founded by a foundation that draws its strength and values from a deep-rooted past and has a love for people and country.
The Orientation Program is aimed at addressing students from different faculties and Vocational School programs in each session; continued with Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Rauf Yıldız, one of our Faculty of Law academicians, Assist. Prof. P. Çağla Kandıralıoğlu Cuylan, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Letters Prof. Dr. Çimen Atak, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Ali Şen, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Nazif Ekin Akalan, Deputy Director of Vocational School Lecturer Oğuzcan Akgöl and Director of Vocational School of Justice Prof. Dr. Durmuş Tezcan's speeches. Istanbul Kültür University academic staff also took part in all sessions, offering a friendly welcoming environment to our students.
After the opening speeches, Vice Head of Kültür Point Unit Mücella Ezgin made her presentation titled “Meeting with Kültür Life”. Ezgin talked in detail about the social and physical opportunities that Istanbul Kültür University offers to its students, and said that the first day of university life is a beginning that affects and shapes all life.
After her presentation, Ezgin conducted an interactive survey to learn about the university dreams and expectations of our first year students with the digital tool called “mentimeter”. After the survey application, a knowledge contest was held for our students. In the knowledge competitions moderated by Mücella Ezgin, our students who placed in the top 3 were presented their gifts.
Simultaneously with the presentations made at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center, the Student Clubs Festival held in the backyard of Ataköy campus continued during the orientation days. In the promotion of student clubs, 60 different clubs opened their stands and both promoted and recruited club members. 4 thousand students became members of clubs that appeal to their interests.
IKU Orchestra team, Dance Club and IKU Sign Language Choir members, who took the stage during the orientation days, ensured that our students had a fun time.
